A summer abroad gives you the chance to celebrate unique festivals and holidays with locals in the community – offering a travel experience that is heightened by holiday energy. To make sure you have a chance to get in on the action, it’s important to start planning ahead.
Ecuador has festivals throughout the month of June that are not to be missed during your Greenheart Travel Spanish language course or while volunteering with one of our two community development and health projects. Apply by April 19th for your program in Ecuador and arrive in time to experience these June celebrations:
Festival of Saint John the Baptist (San Juan Bautista) – June 24
Join the locals in Otavalo and surrounding villages in celebrating this fiesta with dancing, strange costumes and ritual battles.
Festival of Saint Peter and Saint Paul (San Pedro and San Pablo) – June 28-29
Following close behind the Festival of Saint John the Baptist (June 24th) is a celebration honoring Saint Peter and Saint Paul, complete with music, dancing, bonfires and fireworks.
