Where in the World is Anna? Bye, Bye Vienna – Hello Belgium

I can’t send anything interesting from Belgium yet because I can’t get internet in my room.  Tant meilleur as they say in French: it’s for the best.  My day in Belgium was pretty pathetic, actually.  I arrived around noon and could not move for lack of sleep, so I slept for two hours.  After that I spent an hour or so walking around the Grand Place – which is magnificent.

As I was walking out of the Grand Place I overheard someone walking into it saying, “You’ve got to be kidding me.” The architecture is that impressive.  You’ll see when I’m able to send a photo.  From there I realized I hadn’t eaten all day, but it was only 3pm so I grabbed a sandwich at a really cool-looking bar.  They only accepted cash, though and I was out.

So I orded the cheapest thing on the menu because I liked the ambience and sat for a while.  I then walked back to the hotel when it started raining, but not before grabbing a freshly made, best-thing-ever gauffre (waffle), some hot chocolate and water which I brought back to my room.  And I’ve been here since.  I clearly needed this day to relax, regroup and do nothing.

Now I’m about to go to sleep at 9pm and will be meeting with our high school program partners in Belgium tomorrow which should be very nice.  I’ll report back most likely when I’ve arrived in Lyon, my fave French city.  A bientot!
