Alternatives to Teaching English in Georgia

by Sara Dorsey, Greenheart Travel Teach Abroad Team Member

As you might already know,  the government has recently changed in Georgia and the new political power which took the lead demonstrates drastically different political vision. These political shifts have affected the policies of the Ministry of  Education and Science of Georgia in many ways.

Specifically, there have been lot of changes regarding the teach program as well. Unlike in past years, TLG has recently received  strict instruction to reduce the cost of the program proportionally while reducing the number of volunteers currently employed. This has resulted in an alottment of only 160 volunteer teachers until June 2013, all of whom are already in Georgia and will be renewing their contracts.

Due to fact that TLG has already filled the vacant 160 places with existing candidates, Greenheart Travel is not able to consider any recruitment until July/August 2013. At this time, we have extremely limited information on the situation, but we will be sure to share updates as we receive them later this year in terms of how many spots are vacant and how TLG will be recruiting.

We hope you will continue your pursuit of international exchange, and if you’d like to pursue an alternative teaching opportunity – please let me know.

Below are the details of each of our other programs, which I’ve broken down for you as simply as possible. If you want more of the juicy stuff, like pictures or to hear more about the programs’ benefits, housing, orientations, and their amazingness – please email me or check out our blog and flickr pages. The Teach Team at Greenheart Travel (Lauren Bauer and I) have lived in or visited all of the countries listed below, so we can personally vouch for how great they are (we wouldn’t offer them unless they were!) and give recommendations if you are unsure where you might like to go.
