High School - Ireland, High School Abroad

Good Craic in Ireland

by Emily Syverud, CCI Greenheart Travel High School Exchange Student in Ireland

Another weekend in Ireland has already flown by. It was a whirlwind of activities!

On Saturday I went into Killarney with a group of girls from school. My poor time management meant that I ended up running the four blocks to the bus, but I did make it in time. Once we got into Killarney we went shopping at the outlet center and Penney’s for a bit before going to see the new Sherlock Holmes film.

I was able to have some great conversations with a couple of German girls who have been here since September as well as some Irish girls. They were all very nice and we laughed a lot. The film itself was very good, although the cinema was freezing!

Afterwards we went to a 50’s style diner for some food, where 8 out of 10 girls ordered chicken baskets. We all got a good laugh as one after another we said ‘tenders basket please.’ We took the bus back at 6 p.m., and I finally got home around 6:30. I was quite surprised to find the house full! The O’Connors’ daughters Finnoula and Lorraine were there with their boyfriends Terrence and Lorant. The additional company made for a fun night full of jokes and laughter. Their teasing and loud laughs remind me of certain family members of mine…
