Hello! Or should I say g’day mate?
That is not actually a rhetorical question; I am still not sure how accurate it is that all Australians say g’day mate!
Gosh, I have already gotten ahead of myself… let me start again. Hello! My name is Kate and in exactly 22 days I will be moving to Australia, hence my confusion over this whole g’day mate thing. I will be traveling there with the help of Greenheart Travel through their Work Abroad program. What this means is that I will be living in Australia on a working holiday Visa. I will move there, find a job and apartment and spend a year of my life living an Australian life!
If you would have told me a year ago that I would be moving to Australia for a year during this time in my life I would not have believed you. But everything changed after I graduated from University last May. Graduating from college is a strange thing, the whole world opens up to you, and that can be a bit scary, believe me. But… I am discovering it is also very exciting. I won’t bore you with the details, but after a long stretch of confusion, doubt…and limited job offers, a great friend of mine with an international heart suggested I go abroad for a while.
I very quickly feel in love with the idea. After a bit of mulling over this idea, this same great friend found Greenheart Travel for me and passed along a link to their website. The rest is history….well there was a few months of mulling and praying and questioning whether I really could just pick up and move to a whole other country! But in the end I made my decision, nervously told my mom, and set to all the details. These details are a whole other story, well a whole other blog post, which I will tell you soon.
Your Soon to be Australian!
