Teach Abroad - Republic of Georgia, Teach Abroad Programs

Homemade in the Republic of Georgia

photo essay by Kenneth Monette, Greenheart Travel Teach Abroad Participant in Georgia

Just a typical Monday afternoon in the Republic of Georgia, making some Chacha (homemade liquor) on a sunny day after school.

I still am trying to figure out what the “vodka” process is and have been asking my host Dad, Dato, but he doesn’t understand, he just says it’s chacha. I will ask my co- English teacher, Nino, what is going on inside that big, black pot over the fire.

The vodka is very good and better than some of the other brown rot gut I’ve tried here. Dato’s clear stuff is really quite smooth.
