I have now finished school in Argentina and have much time to enjoy the presence of my family and friends here. Allowing myself to open up a bit more and embrace the language and differentiation of personalities I have made many more friends at my school and feel integrated into the student body. My dear exchange friend from Australia holds the place as one of my best friends here in Mendoza aside from my sister. We have experienced many unforgettable moments together while going out and hanging out together with our Argentinean friends.
My 18th birthday, having recently passed November 12th, was the greatest birthday possible even without the presence of my family. I went out to a popular boliche with all of my closest Mendocinos including my host sister now and my previous host sister. We danced the night away and the only thing I lacked was the presence of my blood sisters and the rest of my own family.
I have even found a place for my love of fashion and design here as I begin to know the local designers, stores and hot spots. While wearing some boots that I created back home one day, I obtained the attention of three excited clients who look forward to my creating boots for them in the four weeks before I leave.
One client is a local boutique owner who wants a pair to sell in her boutique full of colorful, unique fashion from local designers in Mendoza. Perhaps I am now included in that genre! I feel so excited and proud to be spreading my designs and ideas to an entirely new country!
But the pure beauty of the point in my life now is the comfort, love, happiness, and joy I finally feel to just be here, living here, almost completely integrated into this culture. I most certainly feel this experience will never leave my heart and the family and friends I have found here will create a connection to this country that I can share the rest of my life.
